Galveston’s Funky Uptown Umbrella Brigade

This Means War! Load Your Umbrellas!

We’ve been ambushed! Last year, Galveston’s Funky Uptown Umbrella Brigade set the world record for the largest choreographed umbrella dance. They achieved the record when 492 costumed Mardi Gras-ers with decorated umbrellas danced together in what was described by eyewitnesses as perfect harmony.

But Alas! The godless communists in Romania broke our record last September when they (allegedly) had 1461 dancing umbrellas. Are we gonna let those borsch-eating heathens from Romania steal our record? Heck no!

This is a call to arms! It’s BYODU (bring your own decorated umbrella) on Friday, Feb. 10 at 8:30 p.m. All good umbrella soldiers need to register online at www.mardigrasgalveston.com.

The attack on the Romanian record will begin at 20th street between Mechanic & Strand where all umbrellas will be opened and our army will dance the Hokey Pokey. And we’ll continue to Hokey Pokey all the way through downtown, reveling in our complete and total victory! All participants must come with a mandatory decorated umbrella. All costumed participants will receive FREE entry into the Entertainment District with their decorated umbrella.

We don’t need to tell you how important this is. Start decorating your umbrella now and learn how to Hokey Pokey. If the Romanians keep the record, it could be the end of civilization as we know it!

For more information, call 409-770-0999 or email yagasentertainment@hotmail.com
