We Defeated the Godless Communists! Battle of Galveston Won! America wins again! Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, a day that will live in . . . famy, will forever be known as VR Day! That’s when we defeated Romania, who last year stole OUR world record for the largest choreographed umbrella dance. Hell no, we couldn’t stand for that. So Mike Dean and his patriot crew at Yaga’s Entertainment rallied the troops on Galveston Island to stem communism’s assault on that most sacred of American traditions, funky dancing. After the smoke cleared, 1,503 people had charged into the breech, also known as the Funky Uptown Umbrella Brigade Parade, where they danced the Hokey Pokey, waived their decorated umbrellas and vanquished the heathens from Russia. Mardi Pardi Eco Adventure Race in Mississippi Get ready to run, paddle and let the good times roll! The Mardi Pardi Eco Adventure Race Triathlon returns on Sat., Feb. 18, 2012, to Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. Occurring annually on the Saturday before Mardi Gras, the 5K run, 2 mile kayak paddle and 12 mile bike ride will promote Gulf Coast eco-awareness and highlight the area’s wide open beaches and just all-around natural beauty along with the great Mardi Gras culture celebrated in these parts.
