All are single season Longhorn records that still stand. De Ayala spent more time in the opponent’s backfield than the fullback.

Texas Home Prices Up According to FHFA

WASHINGTON (FHFA, Real Estate Center) – Latest home appreciation rates released this week by the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) indicate Texas home prices increased 2.1 percent last year.

Midland led the way with a 10.4 percent increase between fourth quarter 2007 and fourth quarter 2008. At the other end of the spectrum were Odessa and Brownsville, where prices fell 2.7 percent and 2.6 percent, respectively.

In the final quarter of 2008, Texas home prices increased 0.2 percent.

GALVESTON, TEXAS - For days, forecasters watched as Hurricane Ike honed in on the Texas coast. All along the Gulf, residents and merchants boarded up windows and heeded the mandatory evacuation order to escape to higher ground. Ike slammed into Texas in the wee hours of September 13, bringing with it hours of screaming winds and torrential rains. When the storm blew out and the sun finally came up, the devastation in left in its wake was like nothing seen in this part of Texas since the Hurricane of 1900.

“It’s like Jed Clampett shooting his gun and hitting oil. That’s what the big wind farms in north Texas are doing. They chose to build on that land because the wind is the best in the country, just like Jed’s land was located where oil bubbled up to the surface. It’s the low hanging fruit,” said Jim Fugitte, President of Wind Energy Corp., a Kentucky based company that is developing a different kind of wind energy product. “There aren’t many areas like that. We have to learn to produce wind energy in areas that have less than ideal wind conditions. That’s where our product comes in.”

BAY ACCESS TO HOST LASER SAILING CLINIC AT LAKEWOOD

Bay Access is holding a four month Ike Recovery Laser Sailing Clinic at Lakewood Yacht Club starting Feb. 1 and lasting through the end of May. The Clinic is a special program designed to help local Bay Area youth sailors who have been kept off the water because of Hurricane Ike.

Lakewood Yacht Club Sailing Director Mattia D’Errico and accomplished Laser sailor, will direct the program and coordinate the coaching. Lakewood Yacht Club has also agreed to allow Bay Access the use of its youth sailing facilities for this extended Clinic.
